UCSI University Scholarship

UCSI University Scholarship

To attract outstanding talent, UCSI University Malaysia offers a variety of scholarship programs.

1. Academic Merit Scholarship

Undergraduate:

Students with exceptional high school grades who achieve a three-year high school GPA of 90% or higher and an IELTS score of 6.5 or a TOEFL iBT score of 90 or higher can apply for a full-tuition scholarship. This means students will not have to pay tuition fees for their four years of undergraduate study, significantly reducing financial burdens. Students with lower academic performance, but with a three-year high school GPA between 85% and 89%, an IELTS score of 6.0, or a TOEFL score of 80 or higher, can receive a half-tuition scholarship, covering half of their tuition costs. For example, a Chinese student with a three-year high school GPA of 88% and an IELTS score of 6.2 would qualify for a half-tuition scholarship, saving their family a significant portion of their study expenses.

Master's:

Students with an undergraduate GPA of 3.75 or higher and an IELTS score of 7.0 or a TOEFL score of 100 or higher may apply for a full-tuition scholarship. Students with an undergraduate GPA between 3.5 and 3.74, an IELTS score of 6.5, or a TOEFL score of 90 can apply for a half-tuition scholarship. For example, if a student is applying for a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program and has excellent academic performance at a reputable university, with a GPA of 3.6 and an IELTS score of 6.8, they meet the requirements for a half-tuition scholarship, improving their academic qualifications while reducing their financial costs.

II. Specialized Talent Scholarships

Arts:

Students with outstanding performance in arts fields such as music, dance, and fine arts can apply for specialized talent scholarships. For music majors who have won significant awards in international or national music competitions, such as first prize in the International Youth Piano Competition, the school will provide a full tuition scholarship and provide one-on-one guidance from a professional instructor. For dance majors who have excelled in prestigious dance competitions, such as winning gold medals in national dance competitions, they can receive a half-tuition scholarship and have the opportunity to participate in various arts exchange activities organized by the school. Fine Arts students whose works have been exhibited in major art exhibitions, such as solo exhibitions at provincial art galleries, may also apply for scholarships.

Sports:

Students with outstanding achievements in sports also have the opportunity to receive scholarships. For example, athletes who have won medals in international sporting events, such as track and field at the World University Games, can apply for full-tuition scholarships and access the university's high-quality training resources. Students who have achieved outstanding results in national-level sporting events, such as those who have performed well in the National University Basketball League, can apply for half-tuition scholarships, and the university will also provide them with professional physical training and rehabilitation guidance.

III. Scholarships for Specific Majors

Medical:

Given the importance and expertise of the medical profession, UCSI University has established dedicated scholarships for students in this field. Students with excellent Gaokao scores and high scores in relevant subjects such as biology and chemistry (e.g., scores of 90 or above in both biology and chemistry (out of a maximum of 100)) are eligible to apply for the Medical Major Scholarship. The scholarship amount is determined based on academic performance and a comprehensive assessment, and can cover up to full tuition, as well as provide internship opportunities and participation in research projects. This not only reduces students' financial burden but also provides them with a rich platform for practical experience and research, helping them advance in the medical field.

Engineering Major:

For engineering majors, the university offers scholarships to students who excel in subjects such as mathematics and physics. Students who have won provincial-level or higher-level awards in mathematics and physics competitions during high school, such as second prize in the National Middle School Physics Competition, are eligible to apply for the engineering scholarship. The scholarship covers part of their tuition and provides the opportunity to participate in engineering projects jointly developed between the university and businesses, gaining practical experience and improving their professional skills.

Application Process and Important Notes

Application Process:

Students must first download the scholarship application form from the UCSI University website and fill in their personal information, academic achievements, and awards received. They must also prepare scanned copies of their transcripts, language proficiency certificates, and award certificates. The completed application form and related materials must be sent to the university's designated email address or submitted to the admissions office as directed by the university. A dedicated review committee will review the application materials. Upon successful completion, students will be invited to attend an interview (some scholarship programs require an interview). The interview will primarily assess the student's overall quality, professional potential, and desire for the scholarship. Ultimately, the school will determine the scholarship recipients based on the review and interview results.

Notes:

When applying for a scholarship, please ensure the authenticity and completeness of your application materials. Any false information will result in disqualification. Also, be aware of application deadlines. Deadlines vary for different scholarship programs, but generally fall in March and September. Students should plan ahead and prepare their application materials as early as possible to avoid missing the deadline. Furthermore, during the interview, be sure to fully demonstrate your strengths and potential, and clearly articulate your learning goals and future plans to increase your chances of receiving a scholarship.
