★ High IELTS Score Study Abroad Scholarship

 

Students who achieve an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher in China are eligible to apply for the IELTS High Score Study Abroad Scholarship, valued at 5,000 RMB. This scholarship must be applied for before paying the application fee. If the student maintains an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher upon arrival in Malaysia, they will also receive a 1,500 RMB study abroad scholarship.

 

Students who achieve an IELTS score of 7 or higher in China are eligible to apply for the IELTS High Score Study Abroad Scholarship, valued at 8,000 RMB. This scholarship must also be applied for before paying the application fee. If the student maintains an IELTS score of 7 or higher upon arrival in Malaysia, they will also receive a 3,000 RMB study abroad scholarship.

 

★ Special Research Grant Program

 

Eligible for: Full-time graduate students

 

Application Requirements:

 

1. Application must be supported by the advisor/chair of the supervisory committee and/or the research project leader and the dean/supervisor of the receiving school.

 

2. The amount of the research grant must be sufficient to cover the monthly stipend for the entire contract period.

 

3. Applicants receiving other scholarships/financial assistance or employment are not eligible to apply for this program.

 

4. Funding under this program will take effect immediately upon formal notification from the Graduate School. Any requests for retroactive appointment dates will not be entertained.

 

5. SGRA applications must be submitted once per semester, with the benefit period lasting six semesters for Master's students and ten semesters for PhD students.

 

Scholarship Amount:

 

● Master's: Up to RM1,800 per month

 

● PhD: Up to RM2,300 per month

 

However, the approved stipend amount is subject to the researcher's/research grant's financial conditions.

 

Application Instructions:

★ International Graduate Scholarship

 

Eligibility: This scholarship is only available to high-achieving students from Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

 

Application Requirements:

 

1. Academic staff from institutions with which UPM has a partnership and who are interested in conducting research in priority areas of UPM/Malaysia will be given priority consideration.

 

2. Applicants must meet the general application requirements for international students.

 

3. Applicants must be enrolled in a master's degree program with a minimum GPA of 3.50.

 

4. Applicants intend to conduct research in a leading field relevant to UPM/Malaysia.

 

5. Applicants must not be receiving any other scholarship or financial aid and should not be employed in any capacity.

 

6. Applicants must provide a copy of their research proposal approved by their supervisor.

 

7. Applicants must provide a letter of support from their supervisor/supervisor.

 

8. Applicants must have published at least one article in an academic journal or have received a strong recommendation from an academic institution (e.g., Vice-President, Dean, Director).

 

9. Applicants must provide a letter from their student embassy confirming that they are not recipients of any financial aid, scholarship, or income from any institution or government.

 

10. Applicants from academic institutions with which UPM has a partnership will be given priority.

 

Scholarship Amount:

 

● The scholarship covers up to six semesters of study, with annual review of the student's academic progress. It covers 30% of tuition fees for six semesters.

★ International Doctoral Scholarship

 

Eligible for: UPM international students currently enrolled in a doctoral program

 

Application Requirements:

 

1. International students currently enrolled in a doctoral program at UPM.

 

2. Applicants must be enrolled as UPM students and in good standing. Students holding probation or who have deferred their studies are ineligible.

 

3. Applicants must apply by the end of the second semester of their doctoral program.

 

4. Applicants must not be enrolled in a UPM graduate program.

 

5. Applicants must have at least two published or accepted journal articles.

 

6. Candidates must have a research plan.

 

7. Candidates must have a progress report from their advisor/mentor.

 

8. Each application must be accompanied by the following supporting documents: a copy of the applicant's international passport; a letter of acceptance/a transcript of the most recent semester; a letter from the student's embassy certifying that the applicant does not receive any financial aid, scholarships, or income from any institution or government; information on publications (published during the UPM program); a copy of the research plan approved by the advisor. Applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.

 

Scholarship Amount:

 

● Monthly stipend: RM 1,300.00

 

● Partial tuition fee waiver for each semester during the scholarship period:

 

Medical: RM 1,600.00

 

Science: RM 1,400.00

 

Social Science: RM 1,200.00

 

★ Graduate Teaching Assistant Scholarship

 

Eligibility: Malaysian and international students currently pursuing graduate and doctoral degrees.

 

Application Requirements:

 

1. UPM students currently enrolled in or about to enroll in a Master's (Research-Based) or PhD program are eligible to apply.

 

2. Enrolled UPM students must be in "good" academic standing. Students on "Probation" or who have deferred their program are ineligible.

 

3. Each application must be approved by the advisor/supervisory committee chair and/or research project leader, or the Dean/Director of Research.

 

4. Applicants for newly approved research grants or grants that have not yet been transferred to their research grant account must also include the following documents with their application: a copy of the grant approval letter; or a letter from the research project leader confirming when the funding was received.

 

5. Applicants receiving other scholarships/financial aid or employed are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

 

6. Benefit period: Master's (4 semesters), PhD (6 semesters).

 

Scholarship Amount:

 

● Monthly stipend (depending on the total number of students and the number of hours allocated to assist in teaching)

 

RM1,125.00 – 3 teaching hours

 

RM1,300.00 – 4 teaching hours

 

RM1,500.00 – 6 teaching hours

 

● Tuition fee waiver per semester for the duration of the scholarship, the following amounts:

 

Medical: RM1,200 for Master's, RM1,600 for PhD

 

Science: RM900 for Master's, RM1,400 for PhD

 

Social Science: RM700 for Master's, RM1,200 for PhD

★ Financial Support for International Seminars/Conferences/Symposiums

 

Eligibility: PhD students participating in international seminars/conferences/symposiums.

 

Application Requirements:

 

1. This program aims to encourage high-quality research, mobility, and exchange among graduate students at the university. Successful applicants may only use the financial support once during their doctoral studies.

 

2. Applicants must be registered doctoral students in good academic standing and have never been awarded funding.

 

3. Applicants with a minimum of six semesters of study will be given priority.

 

4. Applicants must have participated in the PutraSarjana Presentation Skills Workshop organized by the Graduate School or a workshop held at the Faculty/Institute prior to application.

 

5. Applicants must be invited to be speakers. The presentation must be relevant to the applicant's doctoral research work. A letter of invitation must be submitted along with the application form.

 

6. The application form (GS-46) can be downloaded using the PU/S/BR05/GS-46 form. The completed application form must be submitted to the Graduate School at least 40 days before the seminar/conference/symposium date.

 

7. Seminar/Conference/Symposium PPTs must be submitted to the Graduate School along with the application form. Submitted PPTs must meet the following requirements: the PPTs must have been reviewed and approved by the supervisor or supervisory committee; the slides must use the university's standard PowerPoint template, which is available for download; the slides must be in English; and the slides must include a statement of thanks for the university's support.

 

8. International applicants may only apply for seminars/conferences held outside their home country.

 

9. The application form (GS-46) must be signed by the supervisor or supervisory committee chair and the Dean/Supervisor of the School.

 

10. Applications that do not meet the above requirements will not be considered.

 

Please note: All applications will be reviewed by the University's selection committee. Successful applicants will receive a conditional offer of admission and will be required to give a mock presentation before the University's conference support team. The conditional offer may be withdrawn if the review panel is dissatisfied or the applicant fails to attend. A formal scholarship offer will be issued only if the review panel is satisfied with the submitted materials. Appeals or claims for reimbursement of expenses after attending a seminar/conference/symposium without the University's approval will not be considered.

 

Scholarship Amount:

 

● Southeast Asia (excluding Singapore and Brunei): RM1,000

 

● Asia (including Singapore and Brunei): RM1,500

 

● Other Countries: RM2,000

 

Application Instructions:

 

● Applications must be submitted within 30 working days of the seminar/conference/symposium.

 

● All applications must include original receipts or proof of payment. Reimbursement will be granted for the following items: meals; accommodation; economy class airfare and boarding pass (preferably Malaysia Airlines or Air Asia); bus or train tickets for land transportation; taxi fares with receipts; and other expenses (visas, travel insurance, and minor medical treatment).

 

● Seminar/conference/symposium attendance reports must be submitted to the UPM Graduate School within one month of the meeting date. Include the following items in your report: Briefly describe your purpose for attending the conference/seminar/symposium; Indicate how your report fits within the overall schedule/plan of the conference/seminar/symposium; Submit a copy of your abstract and PowerPoint presentation; Briefly describe how the conference/seminar/symposium enhanced your experience as a graduate student; Briefly describe actions/efforts taken at the conference/seminar/symposium to foster future collaborations; You may also offer suggestions for improving the administration of "Financial Assistance for Participation in International Seminars/Conferences/Symposiums."

 

★ Universiti Putra Malaysia Alumni Scholarship Scheme

 

Eligible: Children of UPM graduates pursuing graduate studies at UPM.

 

Application Requirements:

 

1. Applicants must meet the general application requirements for international students.

 

2. Applicants must hold a bachelor's or master's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.50.

 

3. Applicants are only eligible for research-based programs.

 

4. Applicants must be conducting research in a priority area relevant to UPM/Malaysia.

 

5. Applicants must not be receiving any other form of scholarship or financial assistance and should not be engaged in any employment.

 

6. Applicants must have a copy of their research proposal approved by their supervisor.

 

7. Applicants must have a letter of support from their advisor/supervisor.

 

8. Applicants must have published at least one article in an academic journal and/or have received a strong recommendation from an academic institution (e.g., Vice-President, Dean, Director).

 

9. Applicants must have a letter from their student embassy confirming that they are not a recipient of any financial aid from any institution or government.

 

10. Recipient of aid/scholarship/income.

 

11. Preference will be given to applicants from developing countries of strategic importance.

 

12. Graduate on Time (GOT) status is required - only for UPM alumni.

 

Scholarship Amount:

 

● The number of scholarships awarded depends on the applicant's qualifications and the amount of available funds.

 

● Duration and start date of the scholarship

 

The scholarship covers a 2-year master's degree and a 3-year doctoral degree.

 

● Children of UPM Alumni: This scholarship covers 50% of the student's tuition fees for the duration of their studies.

 

● UPM Alumni: Recipients receive a 10% tuition fee waiver.
