National University of Singapore Research Scholarship

Scholarship Details:

The NUS Research Scholarship is initially valid for one year and is renewable at the institution's discretion based on the student's performance. The maximum scholarship duration is four years for PhD students (two years for Master's students), depending on the institution and the availability of research funding in each case.

 

The scholarship includes the following:

  • A monthly stipend of S$2,200 for international students;
  • Doctoral tuition fee waiver;
  • An additional S$500 per month stipend for PhD students upon passing the Qualifying Examination (QE).

 

Scholarship Requirements:

An undergraduate degree with at least Upper Second Class Honours/Honors (Distinction) or equivalent;

Must be enrolled as a full-time research student at NUS at the time of the scholarship;

Must be eligible for a Ministry of Education subsidy.

 

President's Graduate Fellowship

Scholarship Details:

The President's Graduate Fellowship is initially valid for one year and is renewable at the institution's discretion based on the student's performance. The maximum scholarship duration is four years for PhD students.

 

The scholarship includes the following:

  • A monthly stipend of S$3,100 for international students;
  • Doctoral tuition fee waiver;
  • One-way airfare, up to S$750 per economy class ticket, with a maximum of 20 kg of luggage per trip (applicable only to newly registered international students traveling from their home country to Singapore);
  • A one-time settling-in allowance of S$1,000 (for international students);
  • Eligibility for a Research Incentive Award from the NUS Graduate School, including a monthly stipend for four years; and a one-time research allowance after passing the QE.

 

Scholarship Requirements:

Excellent academic performance. Excellent performance in undergraduate or graduate studies and other academic research.

Strong research potential. Academic ability based on the strength and originality of the research proposal, research skills, and expertise; alignment with the research interests of the School is a plus.

Excellent moral character and leadership potential.

 

Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA)

Scholarship Details:

The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a collaboration between A*STAR, Nanyang Technological University, the National University of Singapore, and the Singapore University of Technology and Design.

 

This scholarship is open only to students from the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Computing, and Faculty of Medicine.

 

The scholarship includes:

  • A monthly stipend of S$2,200 for up to four years;
  • An additional S$500 per month upon passing the PhD qualifying examination;
  • Four-year tuition fee subsidy;
  • A one-time air travel allowance of up to S$1,500 (economy class);
  • A one-time placement allowance of S$1,000.

 

Students are also required to complete a total of 416 hours of graduate assistantship work.

A*STAR Graduate Scholarship

Scholarship Details:

The A*STAR Graduate Scholarship is open to PhD students in the Integrated Science and Engineering Programme (ISEP). Successful applicants receive funding for up to four years and includes:

 

  • Full annual tuition fees;
  • Monthly living allowance;
  • Other living allowances, such as book allowance, computer allowance, conference allowance, and thesis allowance;
  • The specific amounts of these allowances are subject to change by A*STAR from time to time.
  • International applicants are also required to have worked for three years in a Singaporean company, preferably in the fields of biomedical sciences, physical sciences, or engineering.

 

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:

There is no nationality restriction. Non-Singaporean applicants must have completed or are nearing completion of a degree at a Singapore autonomous university.

At least a second-class honors degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline and a strong interest in research.

Have a strong interest in a research career.

A*Star will have additional selection criteria based on existing scholarship policies.
